Oh, The Lumens creates lively, organic, and contemporary music in a mainly instrumental universe. With the incorporation of wonky beats, plenty of percussion, playful guitar noodling, and the occasional off-kilter sample, Oh, The Lumens glues together something distinctively left-field yet still suitable for the dance floor.

Inspired by bands such as Battles, Tom Tom Club, Holy Fuck, Against All Logic, Los Bitchos, Matias Aguayo, Ratatat, and more — Oh, The Lumens is a high-spirited musical collaboration, going +15 years strong, between two friends, Péter Tóth and Rikard Jönsson.

After a long pause in music-making, in early 2021, their collaboration took a new turn when a quirky musical doodle came to life one evening. With COVID in full effect and both of them living in different cities, Stockholm and Berlin, short iterative stints on several collages of music, passed back and forth online, quickly started to develop into a full body of work.

The rules for collaborating, when not being able to be in the same room, relied heavily on leveraging each other’s strengths in music-making and leaving space for the other to evolve and develop the music in whatever direction they saw fit. The result is a sprawling collection of songs, gathered under the album name ‘Parade’, that manages to frame its own little universe through their idiosyncrasies, with more details to explore every time you listen to each song.
